Johannesburg Complete City Tour
We'll pick you up from your hotel at the agreed time to start our tour.
The first stop will be Constitution Hill, formerly a prison, that tells the story of South Africa's journey to democracy. We'll explore its exhibitions of this museum that not only houses a heritage site, but also allows us to understand the past, present, and future of this country.
Then we'll head to the Nelson Mandela Bridge, built in recognition of the role Nelson Mandela was having in uniting South African society, and the symbolism of linkage and unity provided by the bridge.
We'll drive through the financial district, dominated by skyscrapers such as the Carlton Centre Office Tower, also known as the Top of Africa, the tallest buildings in Africa.
Our next stop will be the Apartheid Museum, which illustrates the rise and fall of apartheid. After this visit, we'll have 30 minutes to rest and have lunch at our own leisure.
Once we've regained our strength, we'll head to our next destination: the Soccer City Stadium. Remember which country won the 2010 World Cup here?
Next stop: Vilakazi Street. Vilakazi is perhaps the most famous street in Soweto since it’s the only one in the world to have been home to two Nobel Prize winners —Nelson Mandela and Desmond Tutu.
The tour will continue to Nelson Mandela's former home in Soweto. You'll be able to enter the house and garden of this home that belonged to the family for 50 years.
After learning first-hand about the origins of the former president of South Africa, we'll go into the struggle against apartheid (system of racial separation between blacks and whites) by visiting the Hector Peterson Museum.
At the end of the tour, we'll drive you back to the hotel.
