Discover the beauty of south Kenya with this trip to Wasini Island from Mombasa. Plus, you'll swim with dolphins and go snorkelling!
Swim with Dolphins at Wasini Island
After picking you up from your hotel in Mombasa, we'll hit the road and head to the south of the county, where we'll stop at the coastal town of Shimoni. Once there, we'll visit the "Shimoni Slave Caves", which tell the dark and painful story of slavery.
After this interesting visit, we'll head to the port ready to set sail on a traditional Kenyan boat. We'll sail on the Indian Ocean, parallel to the heavenly Wasini Island. In the waters here lies one of the area's most famous marine reserves: the Kisite-Mpunguti National Park. We'll anchor down and you'll be able to go snorkelling in the crystal-clear waters. Not only will you see the incredible marine flora, but this area is home to many friendly dolphins! You'll be able to swim close to them, in their natural habitat, whilst maintaining a distance to respect their space.
We'll spend two hours swimming and snorkelling in this natural paradise alongside our expert instructors, and then we'll sail to Wasini Island. You'll have worked up quite an appetite, so we'll head to a fantastic restaurant with sea views, where you'll enjoy a delicious local lunch.
After lunch, we'll take a walking tour around Wasini Island. This is a perfect chance to learn more about the island's culture, history, and lifestyle. Once we've explored the island, we'll set sail once again and head back to the port in Shimoni, before returning to Mombasa.
