Timanfaya & Jameos del Agua Day Trip
Timanfaya & The Jameos del Agua Tour
After picking you up at your hotel, we'll begin the day trip around Lanzarote with the western part of the Island.
We'll make our first stop about 15 minutes long in El Golfo. In this volcanic area, known for its beauty, we'll reach the Charco de los Clicos, otherwise known as "The Green Lake" - whose unusual color is a result of the algae and sulfur in its waters. The beauty of the lake did not go unnoticed by Pedro Almodóvar, who shot one of the main scenes of the Spanish movie "Los Abrazos Rotos" (Broken Embraces) here, with Penélope Cruz.
Our next destination will be the area around Timanfaya National Park, where you’ll have the option to take a 30-minute camel ride for an additional fee payable on the day of the tour. Once in the park, we’ll take the Volcanoes Route to explore its almost lunar landscape, dotted with immense craters. The power of nature here is undeniable: we’ll see this firsthand through the geothermal demonstrations at Islote de Hilario, where we’ll spend about 15 minutes.
Upon leaving the park, we’ll head to Mancha Blanca, where we’ll stop for lunch for about 1 hour. We’ll give you some free time to eat at a traditional Canarian restaurant. Did you know that this town is home to the Church of Los Dolores, where the patron saint of Lanzarote is enshrined?
Afterward, it'll be the moment of one of the highlights of the tour. We'll see one of the works of the great architect and artist César Manrique. We'll visit the Jameos del Agua for about 55 minutes! This space, made from a volcanic tunnel, is part auditorium, part restaurant, and part swimming pool. This natural environment, complete with a lake, is the habitat of the diminutive blind crabs.
From the Jameos del Agua, we'll return to the hotel areas, where we'll conclude this day trip 8 to 10 hours after pickup.
